There are rumors going around that December 21st 2012 is going to hold some kind of cataclysmic event that could change our lives forever. There are many theories as to what this cataclysmic event is going to be. Some state that it is the alignment of planets to the center of our galaxy which has apparently caused devastation to entire civilizations, or that it is the end of an era. Other more ominous predictions have stated that it is the beginning of the end of our world and we should all be preparing for the worst.
Astronomers however have been rejecting all of these theories and stating that there is no evidence doomsday is upon us. Most are calling it pseudoscience, a theory that has been mistaken for science and everything about these claims of the earths end conflicts with simple observations made by astronomers all over the world. This rejection of doom however has not stopped people from being frightened and many are working towards preparing for the unknown.
How do you survive the end of the world? This is a question many people have been asking and one that this piece is going to answer as fully as possible.
Thirst is the first thing you should be thinking about. The average human can survive for over a month without any food, but take away water and it could spell the end in just a day and a half. The simple fact is that humans cannot survive without water. It causes the blood to thicken in your veins and your heart to beat harder and faster leading to all sorts of complications and the inevitability of death. Bottled water could be the solution. Store it in a place you can access as easily as possible and keep it hidden. After the end water will be like gold, and many will do whatever they can to get hold of it.
Food is a close second on your list. It is essential that you prepare a store of food that is out of reach of others and easily accessible to yourself. Here you can store as much food for the duration of time you are planning on surviving for. It is best to stock this area with things that will not go off in the near future, like dried goods, tinned food and packets of crisps. Anything with a long expiration date.
The final thing you will need is shelter. It can be anything from a bomb shelter to stick in the woods. Preferably the latter would be safer but it may come to the point where you have move, and it is during this time that you should think about buying some sort of tent that can easily be set up in the wild and will keep you relatively dry and warm.
Perhaps the most important thing to bear in mind is that you should plan ahead. Preparation and planning is the key to success in anything. There will come times when you may have to think fast and act on your impulses but if you have planned ahead and kept your cool along the way, these times will be few and far in-between.
If in doubt, there are many books out there that can help you prepare for the worst. These are paramount for any survivalist looking to live beyond the devastation that may come about at the end of the world.
